Study on shale hydrocarbon generation pressurization and its influencing factors - taking Guoyuan area of Ordos Basin as an example

Abstract

The increase in shale hydrocarbon production is the main driver of crude oil accumulation, but the lack of effective theoretical and technical means limits exploration and development. In this study, the quantitative calculation method of hydrocarbon generation pressurization was improved by the hydrocarbon overburden pressure simulation experiment. The relationship between the rate of hydrocarbon conversion rate and the content of organic matter is positively correlated with the process of hydrocarbon pressurization. On the other hand, the compression coefficient of clay minerals, the formation water content and compacted overpressure have inhibitory effects on hydrocarbon generation and pressurization. The combination of various factors determines the migration and enrichment of crude oil in shale lithology. This study, taking Ordos Basin, one of the most representative basins in China, as a case study, aims to elucidate the mechanisms and parameters involved in the generation and pressurization of hydrocarbons, providing valuable insights for the exploration and development of shale reservoirs in worldwide.
