ABSTRACT
The purpose of this systematic literature review is to examine the developments in global tourism industry regulations over time. We examined 416 peer-reviewed articles published in Social Science Citations Indexed journals. The findings show that the number of publications in the field of study have been declining recently and tourism in developed countries have been the primary focus of most studies. Only a few studies used appropriate theoretical insights to inform respective investigations. While the findings of the present study serve as a literature roadmap for future research, they can also help spark scholarly conversations in the field of study.
