Abstract

The global casino entertainment industry produces $90 billion in annual revenues and employs 1.5 million people worldwide. The quantitative study of perceived casino management education needs included responses from 1,064 middle managers working in the casino entertainment industry. The Gursoy-Swanger model of modern hospitality education provides the foundation for evaluating casino management educational needs of industry professionals. Results of the study confirm that the course subjects ethics, leadership, preparation for industry employment, casino management/organization, operations analysis, internships and casino industry overview are perceived as important by casino industry professionals, matching the results of Gursoy and Swanger's research into hospitality education needs of hospitality professionals.
