Abstract
Spodiosite, formerly considered as a valid mineral species with the formula Ca2(PO4)F, is discredited. Investigations of the type material from Nyttsta Krangruva, Filipstad, Sweden, using X-ray powder diffraction and chemical analysis, have shown it to be a mixture of mainly fluorapatite, calcite and serpentine. The IMA Commission on New Minerals and Mineral Names has approved the discreditation.
