Abstract
Bentonite beds are described from a number of localities on Gotland, all in the oldest exposed Silurian beds (Upper Llandovery). Four beds are found, with characteristic intervals. They occur in beds which were supposed to belong to two zones, and it is suggested that the zones are partly facies (more or less calcareous) of the same age. A correlation with bentonites in Västergötland is suggested.
