Speculations on the immigration of spruce into Sweden

Pages 292-294 | Published online: 06 Jan 2010

Abstract

A compilation of Carbon-14 datings of the rise of the Picea curve shows a rapid immigration of spruce in the northern and central parts of Sweden. The datings suggest that the spruce spread from Finland across the Baltic. The areas in Sweden where spruce first appeared seem to have been the coastlands in northern Sweden and south of Söderhamn.
