Abstract
Coarse organic matter, composed mainly of filamentous algae, has been 14C dated in a marine muddy clay from the lake Domsjön on Hunneberg. Four dates were c. 600–800 years younger than previous dates of the bulk sediment. These new dates, ranging between ca. 11 600 B.P. and ca. 11 800 B.P. are discussed in relation to deglaciation chronology, Late Weichselian pollen stratigraphy and problems of dating sediments with a low content of organic matter.
