Abstract
Copper mineralization of rocks from the Hällefors mines has been examined. Based on parameters of the formation of iron minerals a probable position of copper compounds in the whole mineral sequence has been established. The main copper mineralization, producing chalcopyrite, was likely formed during the first stage of higher temperature (573–473 K). In the early part of the second stage, the remaining amounts of copper were bonded in tetrahedrite, bournonite, meneghinite and freibergite. The copper mineralization has formed from fluids created as a result of an interaction of metamorphic solutions with rocks of originally volcanogenic-exhalative iron ore deposits.
