Abstract
This article presents an analysis of the relationship between area and syntaxonomical richness in the main vegetation ranks according to the syntaxonomical schemes of 20 European territories. Complementarily, the impact of altitude (altitudinal range) of the territories on the development of syntaxonomical richness is also considered.
