Abstract
The systematic and taxonomic position of Geum micropetalum, a controversial species currently treated as endemic to Italy, is discussed. The name G. micropetalum is here typified and shown to be a heterotypic synonym of G. urbanum. Herbarium survey evidenced the historical presence in Italy of G. heterocarpum. During ad hoc field investigations carried out in 2012, we were able to confirm the presence of this species in a single small population, the only one known from Italy.
