Abstract
Influence of epiblast on embryo's growth in seedlings of « Triticum durum » Desf. — The influence of epiblast's removal on the growth of seedlings of Triticum durum Desf. cv. « Cappelli » has been studied on presoaked seeds grown for 3 days at 25° in the dark. As compared to untreated controls and to naked embryos without epiblast, naked embryos with epiblast showed a significant increase in total length and in the length of both root and shoot. Isolated epiblasts appear to stimulate the growth of untreated, dry seeds.
