Angela Jirasek
Angela had a successful career in dentistry for more than twenty years, however she moved into the applied and academic fields of tourism after discovering she wanted to share her excitement, experience, and knowledge of the field with others. Over the past 12 years she has earned hospitality and tourism degrees from St. Cloud State University and California University of Pennsylvania. During her undergraduate studies at St. Cloud State, Angela was accepted into the CHRIE Eta Sigma Delta International Hospitality Management Society and Gamma Theta Upsilon Honor Society. Angela is currently the CEO of a travel agency and has held industry related credentials with IATA/IATAN and CLIA. She is able to bring relevant industry related experiences by staying current on travel trends, attending industry events, and her daily work as head of a travel agency. Angela is a world traveler and has developed an appreciation for ancient ruins and the history of dark spots.
Justin Taillon
Justin spent 8 years in hospitality operations prior to moving to academia, including stints with Starwood, Marriott, and Hilton. He began his career in Food & Beverage operations, moved into hotel operations, and was an Assistant General Manager with Hilton. He then moved into academia working toward higher education degrees from the University of Guelph and Texas A&M University. He maintains an academic and applied focus in his research and outreach by serving as a journal Editor, being a Global Director for HFTP (Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals) and Board Member for a Seattle DMO, and working with local industry partners through grants and financed projects such as Starbucks, Food Innovation Network, Port of Seattle (i.e. SeaTac Airport), and many more. His research areas of emphasis are market-based socio-cultural conservation and negotiation theory. His research is highlighted by projects he has completed in South Korea, Peru, Costa Rica, Canada (e.g. Quebec, Toronto), USA (e.g. Myrtle Beach, Lake Travis), Ireland, Brazil, Bolivia, Kenya, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turks & Caicos, Montenegro, and more.
