Changes in Elastin Degradation Immunological Indices in Patients with Moderate Arterial Hypertension Maintained on Systematic Antihypertension Treatment

Pages 149-159 | Published online: 15 Apr 2014

ABSTRACT

Survey target is to study the dynamics of elastin degradation immunological indices in hypertensive persons treated with antihypertensive treatment in the course of two years. 80 patients from both sexes were divided in two groups of 40 persons. In the course of two years the patients were subject to monotherapy with B-blocker or ACE-inhibitor. The changes in systolic arterial pressure (SAP), diastolic arterial pressure (DAP) and pulse arterial pressure (PAP) values were traced. At the beginning, on the sixth month and at the end of the second year the elastin degradation peptides (EDP) changes were followed, as well as those of anti-elastin antibodies from Igl, IgM and IgA class. Strong correlation relations were stated between elastin turnover indices and those of pulse tension. The high level of elastin peptides and titter increase of antielastin antibodies from IgA class in the serum of persons having high cardiovascular risk demonstrated elastin degradation intensification and degradation domination over its neosynthesis (18).
