Due to a publisher error incorrect text was included in the above article on p.17. This has now been replaced with the correct text which is:

In 2020 the WA government introduced to parliament, during the COVID lockdown, amendments to the Children and Community Services Act 2004 which are opposed by SNAICC and the Noongar Council for Family Safety and Wellbeing,80 as the amendments do not allow for AFLDM or give meaningful effect to the principle of self-determination. Although initially unsupportive of AFLDM and opposing it in my own case and the proposed legislation, the government also announced they would fund a two-year pilot to trial Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making ‘to support improved collaboration with families at risk of child protection intervention’.81 It is important to also note that in 2019 - 2020 there was a significant increase in the rate of removal of Aboriginal children.
