1. In recent years, English as a lingua franca and the umbrella term ‘Global Englishes’ have also been applied in the case of pluralistic paradigms of English, but as in the title of this book series, this volume is situated within the EIL framework, and the title neatly avoids controversy by simply having ‘Englishes’ in the plural without an adjective preceding it.
