Guest Editors' Biographies

Renaud Chantraine studied Art History and Museology at the École du Louvre (Paris), before beginning a PhD thesis in anthropology at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris). His research explores the transmission of LGBTQI+- and AIDS-related memory and heritage based on his experience as both an activist (Collectif Archives LGBTQI in Paris; Mémoire des Sexualités in Marseilles) and a museum professional (Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée, Marseilles).

Bruno Brulon Soares is a Brazil-based Museologist and Anthropologist. He is Professor of Museology at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) and Professor in the Post-Graduate Program in Museology and Heritage (UNIRIO/ MAST). Since 2017, he coordinates the Laboratory of Experimental Museology at UNIRIO and is working on the creation of the LGBTI+ Centre for Memory and Training with the NGO Grupo Arco-Íris de Cidadania LGBTI+ (Rainbow group of LGBTI+ Citizenship), in Rio de Janeiro, also contributing to the development of other community-based LGBTQI+ museums in the country. He is currently Chair of the ICOM International Committee for Museology (ICOFOM) and co-Chair of the Standing Committee for the Museum Definition (ICOM Define).
