I would like to thank my critical friends – Udi Butler and Alan Reid for their honest and candid feedback on drafts of this essay. Alan, in particular, for his thoughtful conversations and provocative editing of several drafts of this essay as it turned it from a composition of sometimes stammered flourishes and insights – to a gentler and more stretched free-flow, like a happily un-dammed river.
