‘Storying: dream and deployment’ by Merlinda Bobis, which appeared in Social Identities, Volume 15, Number 1, pp. 85–94, contained an error of layout on page 93. The following paragraph constitutes the conclusion of this article, and not part of the quotation from Fish-hair Woman as is implied by the layout:
To deploy: To bring story into effective action against the original military use of the word. This is the heart of my literary intention. Counter-deploy ‘the little stories’ of the village over a military deployment, and do it as inventively and radically as one can. In fact, superimpose the stories on the bodies of the soldiers, thus render them beautiful, estranged from their reason for being and inutile as instruments of war.
The publisher apologises for the error and any misunderstanding it may have caused.
