ABSTRACT
We use data from Chinese agricultural firms to confirm that low productivity agricultural firms (LP-AFs) export; AFs still have an ‘learning by exporting effect’, and increasing productivity promotes the AFs’ exports scale. China’s domestic market segmentation, the supply and demand capacities of agricultural products, and export experience of firms are key variables that determine the export of LP-AFs in China.
