Article title: The biopolitical president?: Sovereign power and democratic erosion in El Salvador

Authors: Hollock, J., & Call, C.

Journal: Democratization

DOI: https://doi.org/10.1080/13510347.2021.1949295

An earlier version of this paper misunderstood and misrepresented the views expressed by Nick Pearce in his blog post (Pearce, 2020). This section of the article has now been corrected.

The authors acknowledge that Nick Pearce does not hold the views attributed to him in this article. In the blogpost referenced in the article, Pearce does not take a position of support for ‘biopolitics from below’ but instead sets out a number of different views on these issues, as triggered by a debate on the response to the lockdown in Italy in 2020 of the philosopher Giorgo Agamben.
