Abstract

In this essay in the Thinking Citizenship Series, Lidz evaluates the contributions of Talcott Parsons for thinking about citizenship and race relations in twentieth century America.

Notes

1. The essay was later republished in Parsons' collection of essays entitled Politics and social structure (Parsons Citation1969). Today, it is better known to students of Parsons' work through Politics and social structure, but attention to the context of its original publication is essential to a full understanding of the essay.
