ABSTRACT
This paper studies the seismic performance of precast concrete shear walls with horizontal bolted joints. A fiber-based finite-element analysis (FEA) model was developed to simulate the seismic behavior of the walls. The numerical results were verified by the experimental results of the walls. Applying the proposed FEA model, a parametric study was conducted to research the effect of main structural factors on the shear walls. By analyzing the failure mechanisms of the walls, a simplified model was proposed to predict the ultimate capacity of the shear walls with bolted connections, which was verified with good accuracy.
