Abstract
Solid inclusions of sodium have been produced in a pure aluminium matrix by mixing of the immiscible liquid phases in the melt. Observations are reported on the facetting of the sodium inclusions and on the movement, coalescence and facetting of voids within the sodium particles which occur in situ during transmission electron microscopy observation.
