Effects of Coulomb interaction and disorder in a stochastic lattice gas

Abstract

Static and dynamic properties of a stochastic lattice gas of charged particles are investigated by Monte Carlo simulation. For ordered lattices we obtain the tracer diffusion constant as a function of particle concentration and interaction strength and discuss effects typical of the long-range Coulomb interaction. For lattices involving a Gaussian distribution of site energies we present a detailed analysis of non-Debye relaxation arising from the interplay of interactions and structural disorder. The relevance of our calculations to ionic transport in solids is pointed out.
