Abstract
At 11.30 pm on 12th December 2010 my middle son, Nick, aged 18, was found hanging in his room at university. It was his first term at university and just five days before coming home for Christmas he had decided, inexplicably, to take his own life. We have no answers why a happy, flourishing young man who had so many friends and enjoyed life so much decided to do this. It is most likely we never will. My co-editors, Brendan and Karen-Marie kindly offered to dedicate this issue of the journal to Nick. My thanks to John Pridmore, friend and colleague, who joined us for a celebration of Nick’s life and his goodbye just before Christmas on 23rd December. John has so generously written the following editorial for us and Nick. Cathy Ota
