1. The book represents a geospatial contribution to the growing field of informatics. As such, the paper is not an example of GIS per se. Despite the high degree of existing integration of statistical techniques in software packages such as ArcGIS, the authors emphasize ‘disentangling the typical topologies' of spatial databases to more efficiently export data for use in standard statistical software packages (p. 4).
