Massiel Zaragoza
Massiel Zaragoza is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Literacy, Language and Culture program in the College of Education at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Her research interests relate to dual language teacher preparation and biliteracy instruction for students at the middle and high school level in the United States. She holds a BA in the Teaching of Spanish and an MEd in Instructional Leadership from UIC. Massiel has nearly twenty years of teaching and instructional leadership experience in K-12 schools. She has self- published two bilingual children ‘s books titled Mi prima isleña y yo and Somos gemelas pero no somos idénticas in 2021. Both books are available for purchase on Amazon, as well as Barnes and Noble. Massiel has also collaborated with other bilingual children’s book authors in the creation of teacher’s guides that accompany their books and can be utilized in dual language classrooms.
