Dr Anatoliy Gruzd is a Canada Research Chair in Social Media Data Stewardship, Associate Professor and Director of the Social Media Lab in the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University (Toronto, Canada). He is also a coeditor of a multidisciplinary journal on Big Data and Society. Dr Gruzd’s research initiatives explore how the advent of social media and the growing availability of social big data are changing the ways in which people communicate, collaborate, and disseminate information and how these changes impact the social, economic, and political norms and structures of modern society. Jenna Jacobson is a PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto in the Faculty of Information. From mining big social media data to analyzing little data, her research interests lie at the intersection of social media, identity, labur, and community. Jenna is a Conference Chair of the International Conference on Social Media & Society. She is the Project Manager on a Canada Research Chair project in Social Media Data Stewardship at Ryerson University’s Social Media Lab, and is part of the Semaphore Research Cluster at the University of Toronto. Dr Barry Wellman co-directs the NetLab Network. He has been studying community and social networks since 1967. Philip Mai M.A., J.D. is the Manager of Academic Communications at Ryerson University in Toronto, a member of the Office of Communications, Government and Community Engagement, the Office of the Provost and Vice President Academic. He is also the Research and Communications Manager at the Ryerson Social Media Lab and a co-founder of the International Conference on Social Media & Society. In his work, Philip focuses on knowledge mobilization, information diffusion, and social media analytics with the aim to connect people, knowledge, and ideas.
