The European higher education area and research-orientated social work education

Pages 285-296 | Published online: 17 Aug 2006

Abstract

This paper deals with the increased academic focus of social work education, which means an increasing integration of research into teaching. It looks at the Bologna process, which only began in 2003 to see research as an integral part of higher education, and finally asks about the special features of research in social work. The paper also gives some examples of the ways in which research is integrated into social work training in Europe.

Notes

1. The concept of Lebenswelt or every day life orientated social work means to take into consideration the self interpretation and action patterns of the users of social work and has as a goal to strengthen their life spaces and social connections.
