It's really good to hear from you. I'm replying in haste as I'm up against a deadline! But I'll try to have a scout round—I think you're right; I certainly discussed all the detail with Mike, both face to face and on the phone, so you can have confidence that your account is correct. I am surprised that he is now saying this—in fact, I subsequently (in a later speech at the Royal Geographical) acknowledged that he was a bit taken aback by the controversy, but also that he accepted that my interpretation of his work was essentially accurate—and why wouldn't he—I wouldn't have heard of it, much less understood it if he hadn't given me a little tutorial!

I'll try to get back to you next week.
