When the above article was first published online, the word ‘ahistorical’ appeared incorrectly as ‘a historical’ in the sentence ‘This is clearly false: cultures exist in the world independently of any particular individual, but not independently of people in general, and therefore cannot be a historical Platonic ideals’. This has been corrected now in the online version.

The correct sentence is:

‘This is clearly false: cultures exist in the world independently of any particular individual, but not independently of people in general, and therefore cannot be ahistorical Platonic ideals.’
