Nanodiamond: a multitalented material for cutting edge solar cell application

Pages 302-314 | Received 05 Dec 2016, Accepted 05 Apr 2017, Published online: 12 Apr 2017

Abstract

This article presents a state-of-the-art overview on nanodiamond materials in solar cell. Nanodiamond has been considered as eminent material in solar cell due to corrosion resistance, hardness, temperature resistant, and improved physical properties than other nanocarbon. Photovoltaic material based on nanodiamond and poly(3-hexylthiophene)/polyaniline derivative have been argued. Deposition of ND-based films via plasma gun, chemical vapor deposition, spray technique, and spin coating deposition are also discussed. Nanodiamond merits particular research concentration to develop electron donor-acceptor composite materials, solar cell windows, and protective coatings in dye sensitized/bulk hetero-junction solar cell. Successful design of nanodiamond-based material for solar cell is still challenging.
