When the above article was first published, a number of errors were made:

1. Author Hirokazu Kakuda’s name was incorrectly spelt as Kakuta.

2. In table 1, the following figures were incorrect:

   1. The ‘Normal Ex’ results for Ua excretion/day (mg) should be 636 ± 107 not 638 ± 107.

   2. The ‘Over Ex’ results for Systolic BP (mmHg) should be 131 ± 18 not 130 ± 18.

3. The line on p.781 under the heading ‘Estimated glomerular filtration rate’, “eGFR was increased from 74 ± 14 ml/min at baseline (n = 46) to 77 ± 14 ml/min at the final visit (n = 46) (P < 0.05)”, the value ‘n’ should equal 42 (n = 42) and not 46.

4. In table 2, the following figures for ‘Others (sudden death etc)’ were incorrect:

   1. Results for ‘Over excretors’ should be 0 not 4.

   2. Results for ‘Normal excretors’ should be 4 not 1.

   3. Results for ‘Under excretors’ should be 1 not 5.
