Abstract
I had wanted to speak with Maurice Marks since meeting him in the low care facility in which he resides, in Queanbeyan, New South Wales, Australia. I knew him to be an interesting, modest and funny man, but now I know he has other special qualities. Maurice has an exceptional memory and at 90 years of age, his stories are told as if they happened yesterday. Maurice dedicated many years of his life to his community, working with frail and aged people at the Sir Joseph Banks Day Care Centre at Caringbah. His work led to nomination for an Order of Australia Medal. Macular degeneration has left Maurice with minimal eyesight, but even that does not slow this amazing Australian down! This is his story.
