ABSTRACT

Texture mapping of 3D models in fields like architecture and archaeology is a real challenge especially with a large number of images which are not always captured with the ideal photogrammetric order. In this paper, a new algorithm for full automatic texture mapping is developed based on several parameters. The developed algorithm assigns the suitable texture based on the score summation of five parameters. The algorithm is coded and applied to a megaproject. The results are compared with the state-of-the-art texture mapping algorithms qualitatively and quantitatively. The comparison shows the efficiency and reliability of the developed algorithm.
