Abstract
The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand (MHF) is mandated to promote positive attitudes towards ageing and to work with providers of services to older people to develop their capacity to promote mental health. Meeting of the Minds is a partnership between MHF, Age Concern Auckland and Auckland City Libraries that promotes positive ageing by ‘stretching older people's minds’. The programme offers mentally stimulating activities in the setting of community libraries. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations at the nine-month point demonstrate the popularity of the programme and its role in supporting social connectedness as well as mental stimulation.
