R. J. Arnold

R. J. Arnold is an associate research fellow at Birkbeck, University of London. His research focuses on the connections between music and political culture in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century France. In 2016 he published a study of the relationship between the opera composer Grétry and the French public from the Bourbon regime through to the Restoration. This year will see the publication of his second monograph, a social history of disputes about music in France, from the beginning of the eighteenth century to the 1830s.
