Charlotte Backerra
Charlotte Backerra is a postdoctoral researcher of early modern European history and lecturer at the Institute of History of TU Darmstadt, having previously taught in Mainz and Stuttgart (Germany). Her projects cover premodern international relations, intelligence and espionage of European powers, historiography, and the role of dynasties in politics and culture. Her doctoral thesis on ‘Vienna and London, 1727–1735. International Relations in the Early 18th Century’ will be published in German in 2018. She has co-edited a volume on Transnational Histories of the ‘Royal Nation’ (Basingstoke, 2017), and is currently preparing another on Confessional Diplomacy in Early Modern Europe.
