Abstract
Reasonably priced computers and Internet connectivity, along with the ease and convenience of Web access, have made commerce on the Internet a reality. Library acquisitions staff and collection development librarians have been quick to take advantage of the resources and services offered on publisher Web pages. This has extended to online ordering from both publishers and booksellers. The focus of much of this activity has been rush books and out-of-print titles. However, as electronic commerce and online banking become widely accepted, there will be fundamental changes in the methods by which libraries acquire material.
