1. The full name of my department in college is ‘Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures’, in which we have to take both linguistic and literature classes. However, we were all learning and speaking English, except for the obligatory second foreign language. This never seemed weird until I began to work for IACS. As Professor Chang Hsiao‐Hung mentioned in a public speech, almost all the Foreign Languages/Literature Departments in Taiwan are in fact English Departments.
