Abstract
Viminol has pharmacological properties similar to those of morphine, which suggests a similar dependence mechanism for both drugs. Although it has a low capacity for producing physical dependence, viminol may not be an innocuous R2 drug. This is the first clinical report of viminol dependence. A 47‐year‐old male, with previous history of alcohol and drug dependence, became dependent on viminol while taking it for a medical condition. He was treated for opioid dependence in an in‐patient program.
