Jacqueline Pinkowitz

Jacqueline Pinkowitz is Assistant Professor of Media Studies at Mercer University, and affiliated with Africana and Women’s & Gender Studies. Her research and teaching center on African American media; blackness, whiteness, and racial mixing; exploitation, horror, and genre film; and mediated southern imaginaries. Her scholarship has appeared in the Journal of Popular Film & Television, The Journal of Popular Culture, The Global South, and several edited collections, including Anti-Feminisms in Media Culture (Routledge, 2022) and Detecting the South (LSU, 2019). She is working on a book, Screening Civil Rights: Race, Region, and the American Film Industry during the Black Freedom Struggle (1955-1975).
