Caitlin E. Lawson

Caitlin E. Lawson is an Assistant Professor of Communication and Media Studies at Emmanuel College in Boston. Her research explores the ways in which popular culture and social media intersect to provide everyday opportunities to negotiate identity and social justice. Her work has been published in journals including New Media & Society, Celebrity Studies, and Information, Communication, & Society. Her first book, Just Like Us: Digital Debates on Feminism and Fame, was published by Rutgers University Press. It examines the rise of celebrity feminism, its transformation through digital culture, and its complicated relationships with race, sexuality, capitalism, and misogyny. Lawson’s current research program focuses on white fundamentalist evangelical content creators and their anti-fans.
