An error in Nathan J. Citino, “The ‘Crush’ of Ideologies: The United States, the Arab World, and Cold War Modernisation,” Cold War History 12 (February 2012): 89, misidentified Adlai Stevenson, former Illinois governor and Democratic party presidential candidate, as the United States ambassador to the United Nations. At the time that he met near Chicago with Syrian foreign minister Khalid al-‘Azm, Stevenson had not yet been appointed to that post.
