Cuba y Estados Unidos, 1933–1959: del compromiso nacionalista al conflicto

Pages 563-565 | Published online: 01 Aug 2012

Notes

[1] Cuban Heritage Collection, University of Miami.

[2] Paterson, Contesting Castro, 182; Pérez, Cuba Under the Platt Amendment, 328.

[3] This omission is especially problematic in Pettinà's passing treatment of the late 1940s (79–95). For how the Communists were pushed out of their tense coalition with the PRC-A as the Cold War hardened, see Sims, ‘Cuba’, 217.

[4] To Pettinà's credit, he is engaged in a parallel debate amongst non-US authors: his influences are Rafael Rojas and Antonio Annino, his targets Richard Gott and Morris Morley.

[5] I would recommend Immerman (ed.) John Foster Dulles and the Diplomacy of the Cold War, 312. Immerman's Eisenhower-revisionism would complement Pettinà's sparing use of Thomas Paterson and Stephen Rabe. The author may also wish to weigh in on Schoultz That Infernal Little Cuban Republic, 745.

[6] The book would benefit from acronym glossary as well as a primary source bibliography.
