Call for Proposals

2023 Review Issue

Challenging the known. Exploring the unknown.

The editorial team of the Journal of Change Management: Reframing Leadership and Organizational Practice would like to invite authors to submit proposals for the 2023 Review Issue. Our aim is to publish a collection of articles that are impactful scholarly summaries that synthesize and integrate organizational change research literatures and provide a blueprint for future research. The goal of this Annual Review Issue is to provide a retrospective look at change management and/or leadership studies and to develop areas of future research. The goal for articles in this issue is to identify both “what we know” and “what we need to know” – both to challenge the known and to explore the unknown in the organizational change space.

Numerous review topics are welcome, including but not limited to reviews of topic areas, outcomes, change processes, methodological approaches to the study of change, and theoretical perspectives on change. As the Journal of Change Management has an emphasis on reframing leadership and organizational practice, proposals should highlight the ways in which papers will meet that aim.

Proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:

MAD statement: Does the proposal Make A Difference to the field of organizational change?

Relevance – Does the proposal offer potential insight on a relevant topic to change management scholars? Does the proposed article have potential impact on the field?

Viability – Is the proposed article feasible within the timeline of the review issue?

Organization and coherence – Is the proposal clear in its aims and message?

Future research – Does the proposal demonstrate potential insight for future research?

Contribution – Does the proposal demonstrate the potential to make a contribution beyond summarizing the literature?

The proposal deadline is March 31, 2022 (midnight GMT) via the Journal of Change Management: Reframing Leadership and Organizational Practice's online (link accessible on https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/rjcm20/current, please be sure to select Review Issue as the submission type). Proposals should be double-spaced and include no more than six pages of text. References, tables, and appendices do not count against this page limit. All proposals will be subject to editorial review. Please do not send complete papers. If you have a draft of your paper, please note that in the proposal. Due to editorial constraints, authors must adhere to the timeline. Late submissions will not be considered.

Final decisions on proposals and initial feedback to authors invited to submit full papers will be delivered by May 1, 2022. For proposals selected to submit a full paper, a full draft of the paper will be due November 1, 2022. Please note that these are basic guidelines, each paper may require different timing and a different number of revisions. The issue will be published in the second half of 2023. Authors with questions about the review issue should contact Review Issue Editor James Vardaman ([email protected]).
