ABSTRACT

This study offers an example of ‘standing theology’, as distinguished from sitting or kneeling theology. The occasion was a service at St Peter’s Church, Beech, Hampshire, during May 2016. The reflection was inspired by Joel 2: 28.

Debbie Thrower, a former BBC broadcaster, is a Lay Canon of Winchester Cathedral, and an Anna Chaplain to Older People, a role named after the faithful 84-year-old widow, Anna, who appears with Simeon in St Luke’s Gospel. She is also Team Leader of The Bible Reading Fellowship programme, The Gift of Years: Resourcing the spiritual journey of older people (www.thegiftofyears.org.uk).
