This is the fourth in a series of international conferences that began in 2007, in Reading, England, and then moved to Barcelona, Spain in 2009 and Singapore in 2012. The organizers are indebted to the support of past conference organizers. This year's conference was sponsored primarily by San Diego's June Burnett Endowment for the well-being of children and families, and The California Geographic Alliance, and also by Taylor and Francis, publisher of the journal Children's Geographies: Advancing Interdisciplinary Understanding of Younger People's Lives, and Springer, publisher of the forthcoming major reference work Geographies of Children and Young People. The Royal Geographical Society's ‘Geographies of Children, Youth and Families Research Group’ provided some travel subsidies for postgraduates.

A conference does not come off as efficient and well-organized without significant work. On the ground locally, Dr Tom Herman and Ms Rhianna Maras provided hard work and meticulous coordination aided by SDSU graduate students Lydia Wood, Don Colley, Hannah Evans, Kelly Salamone and Raquel Munozruiz. Tom's mother, Ruth Herman, was diligently sitting at the registration desk for the duration of the conference, having (in her words) a wonderful time. Emily Johnson, a recent graduate of UC Davis, joined us as a volunteer and Michael Bell participated on an internship from High Tech High School. Drs Pascale Joassart Marcelli, Kate Swanson and Fernando Bosco were involved and invaluable in various aspects of planning and implementation, and Dr Giorgio Curti showed up to help with photography. Of course, a conference is nothing without its delegates and participants, all of whom contributed hugely to the ongoing discourse and agenda that is children's geographies.

The website set up for the conference was rendered inactive in mid-2015, but there is still information about the conference, including all the paper and panel abstracts, available on the web pages of SDSU's Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of Youth and Space (ISYS) (http://geography.sdsu.edu/Research/Projects/ISYS/). The Facebook page for the conference (https://www.facebook.com/ChildrensGeogsConf?ref=bookmarks) will remain active for the foreseeable future and may be used by the next conference conveners.
