David Brown

David Brown taught at the universities of Oxford and Durham before arriving at St Andrews as Wardlaw Professor of Theology, Aesthetics and Culture in 2007, from which he retired in 2015. He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2002 and of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2012. His most recent book is The Extravagance of Music (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018), a book written jointly with Gavin Hopps about music and religious experience.
