Notes
1 The Volos Academy for Theological Studies, founded in 2000, has been administered since 2011 by a board of directors chaired by Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias. In 2014 it was formally recognised by the Hellenic Ministry of Education and Research as a Research Centre with a number of specialised research departments (chant and musicology, manuscript tradition of the New Testament, canon law, inter-religious studies, Byzantine and post-Byzantine monuments). It also seeks to be an open forum of thought and dialogue between the Orthodox Church and the broader community of scholars and intellectuals worldwide, organising a series of international seminars and conferences in co-operation with other academic, ecumenical and inter-religious institutions and forums.
